Mountain and Moorland ponies form a group of several breeds of native ponies and small horses. M & M ponies are generally stocky in build with flowing manes and tails and are shown in their native state with judges penalising ponies that have been excessively clipped or trimmed. Ponies must be passported with their respective Breed Society Stud Book to compete in Mountain & Moorland classes. All IPS Mountain and Moorland classes are open to Mares, Stallions and Geldings with the exception of Lead Rein and First Ridden classes in which Stallions may not compete.
