58.Results Points-drill down

Points will be awarded to shows run between 1st March to 31st October of each year.

Only registered animals with overstamped passports in the owners name (must be member) and with the current year’s Showing Cards may qualify for Points awards and to compete at the Summer Championship Show.

Showing Cards for the current year can be purchased from www.itsplainsailing.com/club/ips. There must be a current measurement or final measurement recorded in order for the card to be issued.

Criteria for Points 2022.

  • Ponies must have a current showing card for the 2022 season. 
  • Results must be logged on the Irish Pony Society website within 14 days of show date.
  • Results are verified from results submitted from show secretaries.
  • Points are recorded from 01/03/2022 to 31/10/2022.
  • Points will only be awarded for classes that match IPS class specifications.
  • Points will only be awarded for affiliated shows listed on the IPS website.
  • Where a pony competes at more than one show in a day only results from one show will be counted for awards.

Novice Pony Guidelines

  • Novice ridden classes are confined to Ponies, 4, 5, 6 and 7-year-old that have not attained 50 points in any Ridden Class at IPS and IPS Affiliated Shows and all ponies 8 years old and over that have not gained 30 points in any Ridden Class.
  • Novice Working Hunter classes are confined to Ponies that have not attained 50 points in Working Hunter Pony Classes at Shows affiliated to the Irish Pony Society and confined to ponies that have not been placed 1st in any Open class at any major show (RDS, RIHS, HOYS, NIF, BALMORAL and any BSPS Championship Show). A pony is also deemed ‘open’ if it is SJI grade A or B, or has competed in Eventing Ireland Pony** (EIP100).
  • It is the owners responsibility to keep a record of when a pony turns open and notify the IPS Secretary or email ipspoints@gmail.com as soon as your pony turns open. 
  • Ponies who start the season as Novice but turn Open during the season can compete in the novice class at the championship show only.
